Economic Systems: The alarmists of Global Warming punditary keep telling us of their concern about global warming and how it is all about man’s stewardship of the environment. But we know that meme is not true and that there has been a concerted global agenda in play, within the Progressive polity over the past couple of decades, to use the Global Warming meme as a stalking horse to bring down Western economic systems. A senior United Nations official has now openly confirmed this long held suspicion. In the past we have had individual climate scientists make the same claim, even former members of the IPCC, but never has a senior member of a UN specialist agency tasked with administering the climate change agenda, been so candid and truthful.
At a news conference in Brussels, Christiana Figueres, executive secretary of U.N.’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, admitted openly under questioning, that the goal of environmental activists is not to save the world from ecological calamity but to destroy capitalism. This brief moment of clarity and truth surprised those delegates present with its openness and honesty. Then in case this open admission was widely reported outside the ranks of Progressive climate activists, the ranks immediately closed and the whole event was conveniently swept under the rug, with little media exposure from a terminally partisan Main Stream Media.
“This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution,” she said.
Referring to a new international treaty environmentalists adopted at the Paris climate change conference in 2015, she added: “This is probably the most difficult task we have ever given ourselves, which is to intentionally transform the economic development for the first time in human history.”
The only economic model in the last 150 years that has ever worked at all is capitalism. The evidence is prima facie: From a feudal order that lasted a thousand years, produced zero growth and kept workdays long and life spans short, the countries that have embraced free-market capitalism have enjoyed a system in which output has increased 70-fold, work days have been halved and life spans doubled.
Christiana Figueres is perhaps the perfect person for the job of transforming “the economic development model” because she’s really never seen it work. “If you look at Ms. Figueres’ Wikipedia page,” notes Cato economist Dan Mitchell: normally Figueres is extremely adept at her slight of hand by making the world look at their right hand while her Global Warming allies supported by a partisan and compliant MSM, choke developed economies with their left. The reasoning behind Figueres’ brief flash of truth telling is unknown, but one must assume that she felt that she was in a ‘safe place’ and could be open and candid with the actual agenda of the global Progressive Left.
She was obviously wrong.
When this story leaked out the narrative was immediately quashed by the progressively compliant MSM and very few news outlets were even aware of the exposure of this covert progressive agenda.
